Bruce Adams hands out the checks to the LaFontans on his right and the Crafts on his left.

The Kent Lion's Club hosted the recipients of this year's College Scholarship Awards at the Club's monthly meeting on Wednesday, January, 14th at the Bull's Bridge Inn.  Olivia LaFontan, daughter of Maria and Vincent LaFontan;  and Laura Craft, daughter of Dennis and Erica Craft, each received a check for $1,250.00 to help them with the cost of tuition (the checks are made out to the schools).  Olivia spoke to Club about her first semester at UConn in Storrs, where she is in the Nursing program, a very selective major that admits only 100 students out of 3,000 applicants.   Dennis Craft read a letter from Laura, who was already back at school.  She is in a Pre-Medical  program at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA.  All the Club members were quite impressed with the accomplishments of both of the young women chosen to receive the annual award.

The Kent Lion's Club College Scholarship Award was established 20 years ago for any upcoming graduates from HVRHS who live in Kent, and are planning to further their education at any accredited college, university or technical school, are eligible for the scholarship.
